Danielle Catherine is a writer based in Sydney, Australia specialising in memoir, poetry and fiction. Often inspired by her family’s Italian and Lebanese heritage, her writing explores the intersections between memory, humour, culture, place, psychology, relationships and identity.
Her previous work includes:
- Haircuts 1 to 3 (memoir) – awarded first prize (best prose) and published in ZineWest, a Western Sydney publication in 2022.
- Garden duties (short fiction) published in WestWords in ‘Over the Line … ?’ the 2024 Living Stories anthology. Awarded the Highly Commended – Adult prize for Hawkesbury LGA.
- Good Friday: A Recipe (memoir) – awarded highly commended in ZineWest, 2019
- Short memoir works published in ZineWest in 2018, 2017 and 2016.
- Contributed to public art for the opening of a metro station at Hasta La Bella Vista Baby, 2019. The poem is now displayed in a permanent mural at Bella Vista metro station, Sydney, Australia.
- chronicling museum and gallery exhibition visits on the blog Diary of an Exhibitionist, 2013-2014.
- at the Powerhouse Museum’s ‘Inside the Collection’ blog, detailing her experiences as an intern, 2012.
- on pages 23-24 of the ‘Memory of Trees’ exhibition catalogue, produced by Parramatta Heritage Centre, 2012.
In 2025 she served as a committee member of NEW Writers’ Group inc., a Western Sydney writing organisation.
